Tori Miles comes to GNMS for the 2011-12 school year having recently completed her Masters Degree in Wind Band Conducting at Georgia State University, where she studied under the direction of Dr. Robert J. Ambrose. A native of Atlanta, Ms. Miles graduated magna cum laude from the Georgia State University School of Music with a Bachelor of Instrumental Music Education as well as a minor in Anthropology.

In addition to her academic career Ms. Miles is actively involved in music education throughout the Metropolitan Atlanta area, teaching and coaching in both public schools and independent youth ensembles. Currently Ms. Miles is in her first year as the Band Director at Gardner Newman Middle School in Troup County. Prior to this she spent a year teaching band in several Fulton County elementary schools. From 2006 to 2009 she worked regularly with the Metropolitan Atlanta Youth Wind Ensemble and from 2005 to 2008 she served as music theory instructor for the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra of Atlanta.

Ms. Miles has conducted the Georgia State University Wind Orchestra and Wind Ensemble in multiple performances as well as conducting at numerous symposia throughout the United States and abroad. In 2009 she was selected to conduct in the Canford Summer School of Music Concert Series in the United Kingdom.
